The Story:
This original abstract painting was created organically and intuitively.
The markings and bold red and black colours on top of bubblegum pink and vibrant yellows speak volumes to me! It truly was a snapshot of my mind and the mess it was in at the time.
Mental illness is not an easy subject to discuss and thankfully there've been much more discussions lately around this issue. Due to some instances that have occurred, I've been battling this vary thing. And let me tell you, it hasn't been easy, or pretty. It's been a long, very hard process. Not just for myself, but my family too.
Not too long ago, I came across an incredible teacher named, Dr. C. Leaf. She explains so many things regarding our minds, brains, emotions and soul beautifully. Really normalizing the idea of mental illness as redirection and regrowing our mental 'trees'. Giving such practical, hopeful, and wonderful wisdom on her Youtube channel.
Not only is she a woman whose not afraid to share her faith, but she's not afraid to talk about and help those struggling with mental illness'. She's also really kind, which is always nice. Needless to say, I've learned a lot through her!
This painting is to honour those--including myself--living a normal life everyday, just cleaning up our mental mess.
