The Story:
This painting originally started with me exploring my new set of oil pastel sticks. The colours and texture of the cakey medium was begging to be smeared onto the canvas.
Shapes slowly unfolded after layers of oil and pigment. Emerging a symphony of colours, swirls and shapes that held my breathe for a fleeting moment. It's meaning capturing my soul. The fluttery came out of it's cocoon to look back at me. The moment was very special. Because my daughter walked in the room at that moment and said, "Mom! It looks like a butterfly. I love it."
I smiled.
You see, when I say I pour my heart and soul onto the canvas...I truly mean it.
The word papillon means butterfly in french and to some, it's simply an unknown word. But to me and my Papa, it is a term of endearment. A tender meaning and a beautiful word.
One I hold very dear.
Like this painting, its name bears a part of my heart.
